Most of these were large, established companies that were adding CDP to existing products. A minority were small, new companies that with products designed as CDPs from the start.  These were more likely to be based outside the U.S., with particular growth in Europe.

The period also saw a sharp slowdown in investment activity, with only one major acquisition (Evergage purchased by Salesforce) and one large funding round ($45 million for mParticle). There were no significant acquisitions made by CDP vendors and no CDP vendors left the industry. The preceding six month period saw six major funding events, three acquisitions of CDP vendors, four acquisitions by CDP vendors, and four CDP vendors ceasing to exist.

“The CDP industry was entering a transitional phase even before the pandemic, with increased competition from CDP capabilities embedded in larger systems,” said CDP Institute CEO David Raab. “The pandemic has accelerated this development and put increasing pressure on small CDP developers. But the need for CDP capabilities remains strong and many firms are prioritizing CDP investments as they prepare for the post-pandemic world. We expect that industry growth will accelerate as economic activity picks up and buyers have a chance to assess the new options that are now becoming available.”

A case of intellectual rights dispute sheds light on the corrupt legal system of Moldova

Matvil Corp is a respectable media provider that provides online TV broadcasting services in Canada and the United States. Subscription access to the service for users from the countries of former USSR and Russia is strictly prohibited and unavailable.

However, malicious desire for illegal enrichment pushes such adversaries as Radio Star (Moldova) to resort to illegal actions, falsification, fraud and the commission of crimes using IT technologies.

Moreover, as it became known already in the framework of the trial, Radio Star (Moldova) does not have exclusive rights at all to broadcast Russian and Ukrainian television channels in the territory of the Republic of Moldova. Radio Star (Moldova) is just an agent for the distribution and conclusion of contracts with the end consumer and with a limited duration of contractual agreements.

In addition, Matvil Corp did not receive any claims from the copyright holders, and Radio Star (Moldova) did not provide any evidence that authority was granted by the copyright holders to protect their interests.

Despite all of the above, on January 18, 2019, Chisinau Court of First Instance, Judge Oksana Parfeni, ruled in favor of Radio Star, accepting all their fabricated evidence as reliable, but denied Matvil Corp representatives the right to hear IT experts / specialists and also denied the right to hear those persons who allegedly gained access to the service.

If the court were objective and impartial, then these adversaries would be asked only one question: “For what reason and why did they use ExpressVPN program, used American IP addresses, with location in New Jersey, USA, and did not try to log in on Matvil Corp website under valid Moldovan IP addresses? ”

On February 2, 2019 lawyer Matvil Corp appealed the decision of the first instance, however, even here Matvil Corp had to face partiality.

On April 5, 2019, that is, after 2 months, Chisinau Appeal Chamber issued a Decision, which decided to return the appeal because it was filed by an unauthorized person. The reason for this decision was a banal and completely illegal motive: the power of attorney issued to the company’s lawyer was allegedly not legalized in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova.

It should be noted that this Decision was not sent to Matvil Corp lawyers until May 15, 2019 (apparently it was concealed in order to have the appeal dates expire). Only after applying with an official statement and demanding to indicate at what stage the filed appeal was, the court deigned to issue this Decision.

On the same day, May 15, 2019, the lawyer filed a protest against the Decision dated April 5, 2019, where it was decided to return the appeal, and on June 6, 2019, the Higher Trial Chamber of the Republic of Moldova ruled that the power of attorney was legal, and therefore obliged the Appeals Chamber to consider on its own merits the appeal about the decision of the first instance of the Court.

Thus, the first ray of hope for the objectivity and honesty of the Moldovan Judicial System appeared.

November 14, 2019 – The Appeal Court acknowledged the fact that Radio Star (Moldova) does not have any exclusive rights to broadcast TV programs and does not have the authority to protect the interest of copyright holders and, as a result, reversed the decision of the first instance and dismissed adversaries’ lawsuit.

It seemed as though that justice has triumphed!!!

However, the miracles of the legal / judicial system of Moldova continued.

Just by accident and thanks to the vigilance of the lawyers, it became known that Radio Star submitted cassation appeal to the Supreme Court of Justice on January 14, 2020.

This information appeared on the court’s website, but until today, neither Matvil Corp nor the company’s lawyer have received a copy of this complaint and have not been officially informed of its existence.

Moreover, on March 18, 2020 this complaint has already passed the admissibility procedure, and the review itself is scheduled for May 20, 2020 and, what is noteworthy, without the participation of the parties!

This series of non-compliance with the requirements of the Law by the system itself, which was created to protect it, shows that it serves the interests of a certain group of people.

Using the Moldovan judicial system, unscrupulous competitors try to destabilize the business and cause serious financial and reputational damage to American and Canadian companies that do not conduct and did not intend on conducting business in Moldova.

CDP Industry in Europe 2020 report: number of vendors grew by 73%; employment by 80% in 2019

SWARTHMORE, PA, U.S.A., 9-Mar-2020 — /EPR INTERNET NEWS/ — Europe’s base of home-grown Customer Data Platform vendors grew rapidly in 2019, according to the CDP Industry in Europe 2020 report from the Customer Data Platform Institute. The number of vendors grew by 73% and employment grew by 80% during the year. Estimated revenue for Europe-based firms reached €260 million.

The high growth came despite a near-total lack of outside funding for new CDP ventures. Only one Europe-based CDP announcing funding during 2019, for €10 million, compared with €450 million for eleven non-European vendors. One result is that European industry growth came primarily from established firms adding a CDP product, rather than new CDP start-ups. Another is that most European vendors are substantially smaller than their external counterparts and are more likely to serve a single national market.

The European industry remains highly fragmented, no single vendor exceeding 10% market share and the top five vendors combined accounting for one-third of total employment. A dozen European countries have at least one native CDP although the United Kingdom, France, and The Netherlands are home to half of all European CDP vendors and 60% of employment.

The report also lists non-European vendors with a presence in the European market. The CDP Institute estimates these firms earned €100 million in Europe in 2019 and will reach €135 in 2020. It expects that 2020 revenue for Europe-based CDP vendors will reach at least €350 million. Revenue may grow even more quickly as global software firms including Salesforce, Adobe, Oracle, Microsoft, and SAP start selling their own CDP products in Europe.

The new study also includes market-by-market analyses from local vendors. Their consensus is that buyers now have a clearer understanding of the value provided by CDPs. But vendors say that buyers are still cautious, with longer purchase cycles in Europe than other markets and relatively few completed implementations. They expect that sales to accelerate in 2020 as CDPs become increasingly familiar and global software vendors further educate the market.

The CDP Institute expects Customer Data Platform Industry revenue to be at least $1.3 billion in 2020

SWARTHMORE, PA, U.S.A., 11-Feb-2020 — /EuropaWire/ — Established Customer Data Platform vendors prepared for industry consolidation even as new firms entered industry during the second half of 2019, according to the CDP Institute’s semi-annual Industry Update. The industry added fourteen vendors and $236 million in new capital during the period while employment was up 64% over the previous year.

The CDP Institute estimates industry revenue for the 2019 at $1 billion and expects at least $1.3 billion in 2020. Growth will be driven by expansion outside the U.S. and entry of enterprise marketing vendors. Adobe, Microsoft, and Oracle all released RealCDPTM-compliant products during the period and Salesforce is expected to release one in mid-2020. RealCDP is the CDP Institute’s standard for capabilities required to provide expected CDP functions.

The dominant theme of the period was change. The period saw three acquisitions of CDP vendors by larger firms, four acquisitions of other firms by CDP vendors, seven major funding events, and the exits of nine firms through asset sales or repositioning. The trend continued in early 2020 with Salesforce’s February 3 acquisition of CDP Evergage. These developments show vendors positioning themselves to succeed in a crowded marketplace where no company has yet established a dominant position. The transactions were notably concentrated in the second tier of CDP vendors: eleven of the fourteen non-exit events involved firms ranking between 13th and 30th in the 101-company industry.

The CDP Institute assigns CDP vendors to four categories based on the functions provided by their systems. Categories are:

  • These systems gather customer data from source systems, link data to customer identities, and store the results in a persistent database available to external systems. This is the minimum set of functions required to meet the definition of a CDP.
  • Analytics. These systems provide data assembly plus analytical applications. The applications always include customer segmentation and sometimes extend to machine learning, predictive modeling, revenue attribution, and journey mapping. These systems often automate the distribution of segment lists to marketing automation or advanced analytics products.
  • Campaigns. These systems provide data assembly, analytics, and customer treatments. These treatments may be personalized messages, real time interactions, product or content recommendations, outbound marketing campaigns, customer journey orchestration, or other contacts.  What distinguishes them from segmentation is they also specify the message to be delivered.

Edinburgh’s leading letting agent Clan Gordon dedicated to raising standards in the private rented sector for landlords and tenants

EDINBURGH, United Kingdom, 2020-Jan-30 — /EPR INTERNET NEWS/ — A LEADING Edinburgh letting agent has added a record number of properties to its portfolio in the last year – thanks in part to stronger legislation impacting the sector.

Clan Gordon, which focuses on high quality homes in or near the city centre, has seen its properties under management now exceed 500, growing by three per week on average – with 152 additional homes on its books in the latest 12 months to December.

The surging growth has largely been the result of switches from other letting agents where landlords were either unhappy with the level of service they were receiving or sensed a lax approach to the new regulations governing the sector.

Growth has also been driven by properties taken over from letting agents which have been forced to exit the sector as they were unable to meet the requirements of the new Letting Agent Code of Practice or, in one case, had been forced into liquidation.

Jonathan, who founded the business alongside his brother, Andrew, in 2008, believes it is a clear sign that the industry must continue to drive up standards – and that by protecting and respecting tenants, landlords can enjoy an improved and more profitable outcome.

He said: “It’s nothing less than a pivotal time for the sector – and with the approach Clan Gordon has taken we can only see our market share continue to expand.

“Edinburgh continues to see demand for long-term rental increasing while supply simply can’t keep up.

“While some landlords and agents may look to maximise short-term gain, a healthy relationship with the tenants, which we strive for at Clan Gordon, can produce a far better outcome for all parties. It creates fewer issues, cuts unnecessary turnover and typically results in a greater long-term financial return for the landlord.”

The latest Letting Agent Code of Practice and Letting Agent Registration introduced by the Scottish Government is seeking to increase professionalism in the sector.

It means that both landlords and tenants can challenge poor practice – and enforce it through a tribunal if necessary. Agents must now ensure all owners and managers are trained and have a qualification at (or at the equivalent of) Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) level 6 or above.

As a Firm of Surveyors which has been regulated by the RICS (Royal Institution of Surveyors) since they started almost 12 years ago, Clan Gordon already met all of the requirements of the new Code of Practice and goes above and beyond this by ensuring all employees – not just managers – are qualified to this level.

Across the new properties, the letting agent took over 12 properties from CMC – after it went into liquidation. A further 20 properties switched from an English agent unwilling to join the new Letting Agent Register. A total of 50 transferred from an Edinburgh agent also unable to meet the new requirements.

A further 70 new properties are the result of switches from other agents, or from new landlords altogether.

CDP Industry Update July 2019: Fifteen of the nineteen new CDP vendors are from outside the U.S.

SWARTHMORE, PA, U.S.A., 8-Aug-2019 — /EuropaWire/ — The Customer Data Platform Industry continued its rapid growth in the first half of 2019, according to the CDP Institute’s semi-annual Industry Update. The industry added nineteen vendors and raised $317 million in new capital during the period while employment was up 71% over the previous year.

Major shifts in the market included expansion in Europe, EMEA, and APAC. Fifteen of the nineteen new CDP vendors are from outside the U.S. The Institute also confirmed its projection for the CDP industry to reach the $1 billion revenue in 2019.

Other milestones the report were:

  • More Funding. Cumulative funding for the industry grew by $680 million, reflecting funding during the period plus previous funding for vendors just entering the industry.
  • Strategic acquisitions. The period saw two CDP acquisitions: data integration specialist Allsight by Informatica and B2B CDP Lattice Engines by Dun & Bradstreet. Neither buyer is primarily a marketing system vendor, illustrating the value that companies in related sectors now see in CDP functions.
  • Operational CDPs. The period also saw addition of three vendors with a primarily operational focus: two customer success systems (Gainsight and Totango) and one in healthcare (Healthgrades). These firms represent the leading edge of a new class of CDP vendors that is expected to grow rapidly.
  • Marketing Cloud entrants. Salesforce, Adobe, and Oracle all announced future CDP products that are expected to be available before the end of 2019. These attracted new attention and are expected to substantially expand CDP awareness and adoption.

RCS & RDS starts developing its 5G network with the Digi Mobil 5G Smart service launch in Romania

BUCHAREST, Romania, 27-Jun-2019 — /EPR INTERNET NEWS/ — We would like to inform the market and our investors that today, 27 June 2019, the Company’s Romanian subsidiary, RCS & RDS S.A. (“RCS&RDS”) launches Digi Mobil 5G Smart – a new commercial service, which will be provided through the entity’s first 5G stations. The launch marks also the start of RCS&RDS process for developing its future 5G network. The launch will take place in the context of a marketing event which will be held in Bucharest’s Old City Center, with members of the press and representatives from public authorities present.

Following the launch of this service, the customers of RCS&RDS Digi Mobil services will have access to 5G speeds and low latency services, provided via RCS&RDS first 5G base stations. In the following weeks, in addition to the 5G base stations active in Bucharest, RCS&RDS will launch the service in another five locations in Romania: Constanța and Mamaia, Oradea, Cluj-Napoca and Iași. In September, the launch of the service is scheduled to take place in Sinaia, Bușteni, Predeal, Brașov, Poiana Brașov, Timișoara, Craiova and Sibiu.

The contemplated development of the 5G network will be gradual (as will be the investments planned for such development) and will be in line with the market interest shown in connection with this new technology.
