RCS & RDS starts developing its 5G network with the Digi Mobil 5G Smart service launch in Romania

BUCHAREST, Romania, 27-Jun-2019 — /EPR INTERNET NEWS/ — We would like to inform the market and our investors that today, 27 June 2019, the Company’s Romanian subsidiary, RCS & RDS S.A. (“RCS&RDS”) launches Digi Mobil 5G Smart – a new commercial service, which will be provided through the entity’s first 5G stations. The launch marks also the start of RCS&RDS process for developing its future 5G network. Following the launch of this service, the customers of RCS&RDS Digi Mobil services will have access to 5G speeds and low latency services, provided via RCS&RDS first 5G base stations. In the following weeks, in addition to the 5G base stations active in Bucharest, RCS&RDS will launch the service in another five locations in Romania: Constanța and Mamaia, Oradea, Cluj-Napoca and Iași. In September, the launch of the service is scheduled to take place in Sinaia, Bușteni, Predeal, Brașov, Poiana Brașov, Timișoara, Craiova and Sibiu.

The contemplated development of the 5G network will be gradual (as will be the investments planned for such development) and will be in line with the market interest shown in connection with this new technology.

Zyxel to showcase its LTE / 5G product portfolio at the MVNO World Congress in Amsterdam

COPENHAGEN, 21-May-2019 — /EPR INTERNET NEWS/ — In tight cooperation with leading module technology vendor Quectel, we have committed to a very aggressive launch schedule, having outdoor 5G C-Band sample units ready for customer sampling during August 2019. This is Zyxel’s phase one 5G rollout, with C-Band Sub 6GHz frequency support. Next 5G phase two rollout will include both indoor and outdoor 5G products supporting C-band and mmWave support.

The benefits of 5G
5G is an extremely hot topic as it is predicted to replace fixed line internet with powerful mobile connections – but at the core of all the fuzz; 5G is all about speed and improved latency. Strong mobile connections with rapid data transfers and much shorter latency. Where 4G connections have a 50-100 millisecond latency, 5G will take us all below 1 millisecond in ideal conditions.

With the great improvement in performance, spectrum efficiency and latency compared to current LTE standards, Zyxel 5G products have the potential to provide a vastly improved and responsive connectivity experience between outdoor devices and the 5G network, opening up the possibilities of an entirely new generation of high-speed Fixed Wireless Access.

5G technology partners
Zyxel’s 5G products are built on Qualcomm’s leading Snapdragon x55 chipset in conjunction with Quectel module technology. We start releasing our 5G product portfolio with weather hardened outdoor units, ready to be easily mounted on the outside of buildings or poles, yielding the best possible conditions for 5G FWA connectivity.

Fixed Wireless Access – 5G’s first real world application
Fixed Wireless – using wireless to replace wired DSL/Fiber internet – is one of the first use cases most Mobile Carriers, MVNO’s and Service Providers are attempting with 5G. To achieve the full benefits of 5G speeds and latency, an outdoor 5G unit is the best way to achieve this, which is Zyxel’s 5G launch strategy, as the mid-band 5G frequencies does not penetrate houses and windows as efficiently as low-band LTE frequencies.

Phase one of Zyxel’s 5G rollout will support the C-band spectrum and will begin during summer 2019. Phase two will take advantage of the high-band mmWave spectrum estimated to be ready in late 2020, early 2021, producing blazing speeds comparable to 10G fixed fiber connections.
